John Mulaney has shared a new clip from his Netflix variety show, Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney. The latest episode features guests, jam aficionados, also known as the Vermont quartet Phish. In the video, which can be viewed below, the artists each take on a character from the beloved television sitcom Seinfeld

Peering through a standing telescope, the host narrates his view, “Buildings, buildings,” before stumbling upon something intriguing. For the sharp-eyed viewers and fans of the ’90s sitcom, the iconic powder blue sofa might have hinted at the joke’s direction.

With a tinge of dryness, to evoke the obvious and garner laughs, Mulaney says, “That looks exactly like the apartment from Seinfeld—same couch layout. There’s even a chunky landline.” Before a figure appears, “Wait, is that Trey from Phish?”

Mulaney’s observations continue with the arrival of bassist Mike Gordon: “And that’s Mike from Phish, but he looks like George Costanza.” Puzzled and putting the pieces together, the host confirms, “Yeah, that’s definitely Trey.”

With two out of the four main characters present, the door swings open, revealing John Fishman as Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character, Elaine. Completing the cast lineup, Page emerges as the eccentric and kooky Creamer, even taking on his cartoonish gestures.

“It’s all the guys from Phish wearing wigs. But Trey is not wearing a wig,” Mulaney says with a sense of concern.

“Whoa, put it together. What are you looking at?” Mulaney’s co-host questions. Peering through the lens, he states: “It’s Seinfeld, but it’s Phish.” The clip goes on to display the band’s name in the triadic color scheme and sitcom font.

Hijinx ensues, as Anastasio steps further into his role, and asks Costanza/Gordon, “Can you believe credit history?” The bassist responds, “I hate credit history.” In time, all four bandmates come together in the apartment and offer a scene rumbling up the same sense of humor as the original show.

Phish wrapped their Spring Tour over three nights at the Hollywood Bowl, April 25-27. Despite winning the fan vote, the Vermont foursome was not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during this ceremony cycle. That won’t stop them from taking part in the Summer Tour, beginning at SNHU Arena in Manchester, N.H. Tickets.
