DENVER, Colorado: Chase Sexton paced both qualification sessions to become the fastest rider in preliminaries while points leader Cooper Webb picked up the pace between the first and second session to land second on the chart.
Sexton survived a sketchy moment in the second session when he hit a pothole and jumped off track. He kept his bike upright as he rode off course.
Sexton needs to gain points over Cooper Webb this week in order to take the title fight to next week’s finale in Salt Lake City.

“I just locked in again and tried to focus on myself (during the off-week),” Beaumer told Race Day Live’s Jason Weigandt.
Beaumer is riding for respect with a 26-point gap to the championship leader.

Sexton ran across a rider who lost momentum in one corner during one of his fast laps but nevertheless ended up with the fastest lap of 49.634 compared to Cooper Webb’s 50.404.
Webb waited until the final session to post a heater, but this is typical of the rider of the No. 2.
Malcolm Stewart (50.415) remained fast in Qualification 2 with the third fastest time.
