A dance recital at Carroll Recreation Center captured the hearts of many. A group of dancers with special needs took part in the four-minute performance. Since September of last year, 25 dancers have been busy learning new moves.
The group got together two to three times a month for rehearsal. Months of hard work led up to the big day.
"I'm nervous about going to dance because it will be the first time and the hardest time," Kimberly Magner, a dancer, said.
The idea of the recital came from an organization called Homecare Options.
"Letting the community know they're just like everyone else and they just want the same opportunities," Kristin Nehring, Homecare Options executive director, said.
They partnered with a dance studio in town called Fusion Dance to help the dancers find their groove.
"Their hearts are so big and the comments they make, I can tell they're really enjoying themselves," Heather Boes, Fusion Dance owner, said.
The dancers are part of a group called Beyond the Stars; their performance shows they can reach for dreams beyond the stars.
