A new flight route has been added from Newcastle Airport to a 'picturesque' island just over an hour away from the UK.

The airport has announced its newest partner Blue Islands with a dramatic 'water salute' at the airport, thanks to their Fire Department.

(Image: NEWCASTLE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT) Today (May 6) the newest airline at the airport known as the 'Channel Islands' airline' has launched new services to Jersey and Guernsey, flying every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Sitting between Britain and France, just a short distance from the UK, Jersey and Guernsey offer aquamarine waters and vast stretches of white sand beaches.

At just nine miles by five miles, Jersey is known as the “little island with the big spirit”, and its warm and sunny climate is ideal for those looking to pursue a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, kayaking and diving.
