Vitamix Blender Cup Recall Issued Over Laceration Risks

More than 100,000 Vitamix blending containers have been recalled, following reports of customers suffering laceration injuries due to a defective design.

A Vitamix blending containers recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on August 9, following at least 11 complaints involving problems where the containers separated from the blade’s base, exposing the blades and causing lacerations.

The recall includes Ascent and Venturist series 9 ounce and 20 ounce blending containers, with date codes March 2018 or earlier, which is laser-etched onto the top of the blade in the blade base. The products have a clear container with the name brand logo printed on it and a black base that was sold separately with Vitamix Model 1200 blenders.
