Governor Cuomo has ignored the safety and lives of countless people with disabilities denying them immediate 911 first responder services and cameras to protect our most vulnerable

Governor Andrew Cuomo ignores 911 and camera emergency matters that would finally protect 1,000,000 New Yorkers with disabilities

Everyone must know the truth and understand that vital camera legislation to protect the disabled in Cuomo's facilities, group homes and transport vehicles has been blocked by Governor Andrew Cuomo.”

ALBANY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, August 27, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The New York Times has brought to light massive abuse, neglect and deaths of the disabled through an award winning investigative reporting series titled “Abused and Used.”

Instead of taking basic emergency steps to protect New Yorkers with disabilities from being severely harmed or killed in Governor Cuomo’s extremely dangerous and deadly mental health care system, he did nothing significant whatsoever. Countless innocent children and adults have been physically and sexually abused or have died within Cuomo’s agencies as direct result of the governor’s gross negligence and incompetence. Close to 8,000 calls to Cuomo’s abuse hotline for the disabled every month and between 11-13 deaths every day.

Today, during a live press conference Governor Andrew Cuomo claimed that the New York State Senate if they challenged his actions would be “discounting the value of human life.” Governor Andrew Cuomo, ever since he has taken office as the governor has denied upwards of 1,000,000 New Yorkers with disabilities within his mental health agencies equal access to 911 emergency services. An official document reveals that the number one known reason for what are being called “untimely” deaths of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities is staff not calling 911. Well known civil rights and disability rights advocate, Michael Carey, who also is the founder of the Jonathan Carey Foundation has asked Governor Andrew Cuomo numerous times over the last 8 years to take emergency actions to end this wide-scale deadly discrimination to no avail. Cuomo has looked the other way, instead of doing what was right and just. Tragically many extremely vulnerable people have died as a direct result of the governor’s disregard for human life. Bypassing 911 for medical emergencies and physical assaults as well as sexual assaults is an outrageous injustice, but this is what is happening right now in New York State.

Here is the link to today’s news on the speed cameras, that seem to be a good thing. Everyone must know the truth and understand that vital camera legislation to to protect the disabled in Cuomo's facilities, group homes and transport vehicles has been blocked by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The travesty and hypocrisy by the governor is off the charts. In a private meeting that Governor Cuomo had with Michael Carey in May of 2012 the governor said that he wanted cameras, but the unions didn’t want them. As the governor alleges that the New York State Senate would be discounting the value of human life if they challenged him, the one who has really been discounting the value of human life is Governor Andrew Cuomo. In the same press conference today the governor said, “My job as governor is to protect the people of New York.” This statement regarding the governors job responsibility is true, but is he protecting all New Yorkers, or just the ones he deems are worthy of protecting? With certainty, Governor Andrew Cuomo is not protecting people with disabilities.
